From garbage trucks to school buses and street sweepers, each vehicle represents hardworking mommies as they take their children to a day’s work.

They care and nurture them no matter the season and teach them the ins and out of a day’s work.

Joyce Wan is known for her bold, vibrant illustrations and this book is no exception. It’s also interactive and fun. Making MIGHTY MOMS an instant favorite. I mean mommies and trucks… what’s not to love.

 

MY DAY WITH THE PANYE

In some countries, carrying the Panye on your head is considered a sign of strength and grace. MY DAY WITH THE PANYE by Tami Charles is a beautiful book that celebrates this tradition through the eyes of a Haitian girl.

It’s Fallon’s turn to accompany her Manman to the market, and she’s excited to finally carry the panye.

The panye is a basket that’s usually full of food and is carried by placing it on top of a mouchwa that’s wrapped around your head.

She’s waited a long time to carry it, and after it falls off her head a couple of times, she realizes it takes agility and grace, and it isn’t as easy as it seems.

With a little encouragement from her manman, some uplifting words, and practice, she carries it with pride and grace.

The book is one of the best books of 2021. It encourages children to be strong and resilient, and it’s extremely motivational.

I love books about grandparents, and GRANDMA’S GIRL by Susanna Leonard Hill is absolutely amazing. It features grandmothers celebrating their similarities with their granddaughters and all the things they wish for them.

From their friendships to their fears, this book is nostalgic, and grandmas will love that it’s reminiscent of their childhood.

Grandma’s are the absolute best and are huge role models to their daughters and granddaughters. The illustrations by Laura Bobbiesi are vibrant and extremely heartwarming.

NANA SAYS I WILL BE FAMOUS ONE DAY by Ann Stott celebrates the caring and vivacious grandmas out there.
 
Grandmas are your biggest cheerleaders, and this book features a dog grandma and her grandson as she cheers and encourages him through his many activities.

She is with him through football matches and spring concerts and even at the school art show. She is his number one fan, and he is hers.

After taking a tumble, he visits her every day to help her with chores and making her peppermint tea.

This book is absolutely delightful, with wonderful, vibrant illustrations by Andrew Joyner. It’s hilarious and grandparents everywhere can relate to the awesomeness of grandparents.

Mother-daughter authors Hillary and Chelsea Clinton’s GRANDMA’S GARDENS is a wonderful book about gardens and the many values they hold through generations.

Grandma Dorothy loved everything about her gardens. The flowers, trees and even the animals and that love flowed through her to her daughter and her granddaughter.

Gardens aren’t just for planting flowers or fruits and vegetables, they are also a place to learn new things and to celebrate events that bring people together.

It represents growth and children will love the beautiful, bright and vibrant orange-greenish illustrations by Carme Lemniscates.

YOU BE MOMMY by Karla Clark is a celebration to mommies everywhere, especially working mothers who work just as hard when they get home. It features a little girl pretending to be her mom, so she can rest after working hard.

Between mending clothes, cleaning messes, and helping with homework, mothers are tired.  When the tables turn, it proves a daunting task for the little one, and she’d rather her mom be the mom instead.

SOMEDAY

SOMEDAY by Alison McGhee is such a beautiful book and absolutely perfect for mothers. It’s features a mother’s intimate journey with her baby from newborn to adulthood.

As a mother, she dreams of the wonderful experiences they’ll have together and the brilliant things her child will become. She dreams of her joyous moments AND sad ones as she watches her grow. She dreams of her living a full and happy life and seeing her grow into a woman and ultimately becoming a mom.

Every woman agrees that her life changes at soon as she becomes a mother because loving a child is a unique love. It’s love beyond measure. Your mama-bear instinct heightens and there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for your children.

I  love this book. It’s a tearjerker, yet makes me so happy because it’s hopeful and I’ll recommend to any parent.You want to cherish every single moment with your children, yet you still want them to go explore the world. Though letting them have the freedom to do that may be hard, IT IS NECESSARY. The illustrations by my favorite Peter H. Reynolds are amazing and totally relatable.

ON THE NIGHT YOU WERE BORN

Nancy Tillman’s ON THE NIGHT YOU WERE BORN is still one of the best bedtime books ever. The book is a very intimate story celebrating the birth of children.
The moon smiles and the wind whispers are some metaphors Nancy Tillman uses to describe the wonderful birth of a child. Each child should know they are special and one of a kind.  
The illustrations are warm and calming and is makes a perfect bedtime book.

MAMA'S BELLY

MAMA’S BELLY by Kate Hosford is such a wonderful story. It’s features a pregnant mother and her toddler daughter who just can’t wait for her little sister to be born.

She wonders if she’ll have freckles on her face like her or if she has to share her blanket. The journey through pregnant can make parents and soon to be big brothers and sisters anxious and this book is perfect to help with the transition.
The illustrations by Abigail Halpin are bright and vibrant and very relatable. This book is a must-have for expecting and new moms.

THE WONDERFUL THINGS YOU WILL BE by Emily Winfield Martin is another sweet book that parents would just love.
Every parent wonders what their children will become as they grow up. Will they be good, will they play songs and tell stories? Will they learn and exploring unique places and things?
No matter what they become, the values you instil in them will last forever.
I  love all the positive affirmations because it’s great to speak wonderful things into your child’s life and be the best parent you can be. You’ll be kind, clever and bold and be all you can be.

IF I COULD KEEP YOU LITTLE by Marianne Richmond is another magnificent book for parents. Every parent wants to keep their babies just the way they are, but they HAVE to grow up.
In this book, parents try to clutch every single beautiful moment with their babies, but also willing to allow them to grow up and be themselves.
Parents should appreciate every moment and feel proud of what they’re becoming. 
Both parent and child will enjoy this lovely book with vibrant illustrations. It’s a total must-have and guaranteed to warm your heart.

THROUGH YOUR EYES

THROUGH YOUR EYES by Ainsley Earhardt is truly a beautiful book and is perfect for Mother’s Day.
With all that’s going on in the world today, it’s great to take a moment to view the world through the eyes of a child. Children see beauty and wonder everywhere, and that’s the gift Ainsley received through her daughter’s eyes while writing this book. The book celebrates beauty, life and love.

Through your eyes portrays a sense of innocence and purity, and Ji-Hyuk Kim’s illustrations are the best. It’s bright and vibrant and full of life and color. I just want to hang the pages on my wall.

YOU MADE ME A MOTHER by Laurenne Sala is a book celebrating motherhood. It takes readers through the journey of motherhood from pregnancy to the wonderful things a mother experiences with a child.
It’s a very sweet and intimate book for expecting moms and new moms and perfect for reading to children.
Motherhood has its challenges, but, the book is warm and inviting and portrays the joy and excitement of motherhood…LOVE IT.
The vibrant illustrations by Robin Preiss Glasser are soothing and inviting and so much fun. 

EVERYTHING YOU

EVERYTHING YOU by Elizabeth McPike is such a delightful book. It’s perfect for lap-reading with your little one as it celebrates the joys of Parenthood even before a child is born. You are everything beautiful, hopeful, cuddly, playful and growing are some heartwarming words a parent conveys to a child, and that’s what this book is about.

Jay Fleck’s illustrations are vibrant, warm and comforting which also makes it the best bedtime book and children will love the animals. 

I WISH YOU MORE

I WISH YOU MORE by Amy Krouse Rosenthal is full of beautiful wishes, but not the wishes you think.Some wishes are for ups and not downs, more gives than takes and more we than me. 

Material things eventually fade, but Love and Friendship and Hope can last forever and that’s worth wishing for. 
It’s a cute, fun and inspirational book to read to children and the illustrations by Tom Lichtenheld are vibrant, bright and make you feel happy.

LITTLE AND HOW THEY GROW

Children grow up wayyyy too fast. Before you know it, they’re crawling, creeping, walking and then off to college, lol.

Kelly DiPucchio’s  LITTLE, And How They Grow, is a sweet picture book celebrating the stages from newborn to school aged. It’s the perfect book for new moms and mom-to-be or for you to read and reminisce with your little/big ones.
The illustrations by A.G Ford are bright and vibrant, so it’s perfect for children and it can definitely jerk a tear out of parents.

COCO & OLIVE

We love mother-daughter authors, so Michelle Madrid-Branch’s COCO & OLIVE the Color of Love is a book we loved from the moment we started reading it.
It features mommy-adopted daughter dogs asking and answering one of the most important questions a child may ask… WHAT IS THE COLOR OF LOVE?
Answering brilliantly, the mommy dog recalls the memorable moments that led to them being a family and all the colors that inspired their special bond.
Coupled with wonderful illustrations like velvety violets and rose pinks by Erin Darling, this book is perfect for every family.
It is full of imagination and extremely interactive and it’s a great way to teach children about love, inclusivity and diversity within families.
Apart from the cute, little hearts on each page, there were so many little things we loved about this book. The transitions between the pages tell a story that every family can relate to, especially adopted parents. 
Love and Family have no specific color or shape. Love is you and love is me and that is one of the most important lessons you can teach a child. AGE:4-8
