Children begin imaginary play at a very early age. It increases Critical Thinking and help to develop stronger language skills.

Improvisation or improv for short is the art of making things up on the spot. To me, Improv is an advanced level of imaginary play and often involve adults, but children can learn so much from improvisation.

Below we have listed some benefits of teaching improv to children.

BUILDS SELF-CONFIDENCE

Improv is done within a group and requires imagination and self control. Being able to portray your feelings in front of other boosts confidence and allows you to be who you are. Children are more engaging and social skills increase.

IMPROVES SPEECH ARTICULATION

Children learn to articulate their speech. They have to let others know what they’re feeling and convey it in a way that people understand. This is a great way to help improve speech impediments and other speech related issues children might have.

PROMOTES CREATIVITY

Children are allowed to express their creativity. Improv is an art and art expresses who you are. It allows children to think freely and be themselves.

Improv isn’t only about speaking, it’s also involves movement and music and even writing. Encourage your child to write how they feel and be open to new and interesting ideas. Let the fun begin.

IMPROVES SOCIAL SKILLS

Improvisational activities create a bond between children. Each child is unique, therefore each experience will be different.

Improv creates a safe space to learn from each other and be proactive. Making it fun and engaging.
