THE GIVING TREE

Shel Silverstein’s THE GIVING TREE🌳🍎is a must-have classic. It’s about the relationship between an apple tree and a little boy. The tree provides the boy with all of life’s necessities from childhood to elderly.

As a boy, he played and swung on the tree’s branches and even ate the apples and visited the tree from time to time as a teenager and adult. The tree always provided hope and love whenever the boy returned through the years until all it had to give was a place to rest.

There’s been some controversy behind the message of the book though. Some say the boy took advantage of the tree because they have somewhat of a give-take relationship but to me the tree is that of a parent to the boy. He grows up, moves away then returns to the one thing he knows will help him.

Ultimately the tree has nothing more to give but a place for the boy (who is now a tired old man)to rest and it’s all they both needed. It made the tree happy and contented in the end and that was all that mattered.

THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR

Eric Carle’s, THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR is one of the most popular Children’s book in the world. If you don’t have it, just go buy one NOW. It’s about the metamorphosis of a butterfly.

Metamorphosis is the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages, usually in insects and amphibians.

It’s a great way to teach children about these life cycles and the vibrant and brilliant  illustrations make it fun to read with children from just about any age. It’s full of life and color and beauty.

THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT

THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT is a true classic and was written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter.
It’s about a mischievous, little rabbit named Peter who snuck into Mr. McGregor’s garden to eat his vegetables.
He gets caught by Mr. McGregor who chases him all around the garden causing chaos and ultimately causing Peter to lose his shoes and jacket.
Children will love the mischief and adventure this curious little Bunny brings and the illustrations will make you feel like you’re in the warm countryside. Recommended for all ages.

CORDUROY

CORDUROY by Don Freeman is about a teddy bear in a department store who wishes to be bought so he can have a home.
A girl named Lisa saw him while shopping with her mother and wanted to buy him but her mom had already spent all the money shopping, plus Corduroy was missing a button from one of his shoulder straps.

Corduroy started searching around the department store to see if he could find his button but had no luck.
The girl returned the next day with enough money to buy Corduroy and take him home. She mended his strap and they start a wonderful friendship and Corduroy finally felt at home.
This classic book is about friendship hope and love and a total must-have for all children.

GOODNIGHT MOON

Margaret Wise Brown’s GOODNIGHT MOON is the perfect bedtime storybook for any age. It’s colorful, creative and very imaginative.

A little bunny’s bedroom comes to life then gently falls asleep as he drifts off to sleep as well. He says good night to the stuff in his room, including the comb and the brush and a bowl full of mush. Goodnight bear and goodnight chair, goodnight kittens and goodnight mittens. Definitely a must-have classic.

THE SNOWY DAY

A lovely snowy book for a very snowy day. Most children are fascinated and curious about snow.

In Ezra Jack Keats, “THE SNOWY DAY,” little Peter is one of those children. He was curious about the shapes and sounds it made as he stepped on it. He even made a snow angel and tried having a snowball fight with the bigger children.
To children, snow is fun and falling from the sky, what more can they ask for. Lol
Among other things, this book illustrates just that. The book is a classic and a must-read especially on snowy days.
